Longueuil, June 11, 2024<\/strong> \u2013 ArcelorMittal Mining Canada (\u201cArcelorMittal\u201d) enthusiastically welcomes the announcement by the Government of Canada to add high-purity iron to Canada\u2019s list of critical materials. This mineral allows fabrication of a greener steel essential to decarbonization of the global economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe salute the decision by the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, the Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson, which is consolidating the importance of high-purity iron for the Canadian economy. \u201cWhether we think of the steel necessary for manufacturing of wind turbines, solar panels or electric vehicles, this recognition also shed slight on the crucial role played by our company in implementing projects that will allow achievement of a lower-carbon economy,\u201d declared CEO Mapi Mobwano.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Already identified as a critical and strategic mineral by the Qu\u00e9bec Government since last January, high-purity iron is indispensable in the transition to a greener economy and the reduction of greenhouse gases on the local, national and international scale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Subsidiaries of ArcelorMittal, a world\u2019s leading steel and mining company and among the top five producers of iron ore products globally, ArcelorMittal Infrastructure Canada G.P.
