We are dedicated to producing ever greener iron ore to create wealth, while respecting the environment and communities.

That is why we have implemented an environmental management system in accordance with ISO 14001, in line with our sustainable development policy.

An external audit process is conducted annually by an independent entity to certify our compliance.

We are also committed to the Mining Association of Canada‘s Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM) initiative. This commitment reflects our commitment to responsible mining practices in the following areas:

  • Community relations
  • World-class environmental practices
  • Health and safety of staff and neighbouring communities

The towns of Fermont and Port-Cartier, where we operate, are located in the heart of a wild and grandiose nature. We are committed to preserving this natural wealth, its biodiversity, and the well-being and health of the people who live there.

Energy transition

In order to achieve our sustainability goals, we are committed to reducing our current emissions by 25% by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality for our operations by 2050.

Ensuring salmon protection on the Nipissis River

The work consisted of redesigning a fishway to facilitate Atlantic salmon access to quality habitat upstream of McDonald Falls, including spawning and rearing areas.
